Match reports 2009 / 10
Saturday 29 May - ERGFL U14 Div 1
Brayton Belles 1 v 3 Hedon Rangers.
It was a disappointing final game for the Belles as they went down at home to a competitive Hedon team.
The Belles were behind after only 5 minutes when the ball was forced home following a goalmouth scramble, and were 2-0 down at half-time after the visitors scored again.
They had created chances of there own but were not able to beat a very good keeper who was the first line of attack for the visitors with her towering goal-kicks, which had caused problems for the home defence. Hedon were far more physical, but fair, in their play and the Belles simply could not get into their stride.
The second half started brighter and there was some hope for the Belles when Cairo Newby had a shot saved by the keeper, but was able to follow up the rebound to score, but they were not able to get closer and conceded a third just before the end.
Hopefully a salutary lesson for the Belles, and a taste of what to expect every week next year in the U16 league.
Saturday 22 May - ERGFL U14 Div 1.
Hessle Town 0 - 6 Brayton Belles ( Match abandoned at half-time)
The Belles went to Hull on the hottest day of the year, needing a point to clinch 3rd place in the league, to find their opponents could only field 7 players.
With a full team and 2 subs, we decided we could not match our opponents, as this would give no continuity to our girls and result in a massive number of substitutions, but would start with only 9 players.
It only took 3 minutes for Anya Limbert to find the top corner with a cross cum shot, and then Cairo Newby ran down the left and finished with a fine left foot shot into the bottom corner to make it 2-0.
Kelly Thornton then rounded the keeper to score and this was soon followed by Anya Limbert getting her second form close range following a corner to make it 4-0.
Codie Heneachon made it 5- 0, with some good determination, and then the scoring was completed when Kelly Thornton scored from 10 yards inside her own half with a towering lob.
It was not all one way traffic with Hessle pressing and creating a couple of chances, but keeper Emily Thomson continued her recent fine form to deal confidently with anything they could throw at her.
Unfortunately at half time one of the Hessle players succumbed to the effects of the heat and was unable to continue, leaving them with only 6 players, which gave the referee no choice but to abandon the game.
Belles Scorers:
Anya Limbert 2
Kelly Thornton 2
Cairo Newby

Saturday 15 May.
ERGFL U14 Div 1 (11 a-side) Scarborough 0 - 8 Brayton Belles.
On a beautiful morning at Scarborough, the Belles turned in a positive team display on what must be the biggest pitch they have ever played on.
They took the lead when a shot by Cairo Newby was saved by the keeper, but the ever alert Kelly Thornton followed up to score, and this was quickly followed by Sophie Hudson playing a lovely through ball for Anya Limbert to race through and beat the keeper.
With half time approaching Kelly Thornton scored her second and made it 3-0 with a fine solo run and low shot.
In the second half the Belles opened up and made good use of the space available and with their opponents playing a high defencive line it was ruthlessly exposed by Anya Limbert who scored the next 3 goals, to bring her personal tally to four. She broke away twice from her own half to score, and then netted another from close range to make it 6-0.
It was soon seven when Beth Stephenson ran in at the far post to meet a perfect cross from Kelly Thornton and shoot first time past the keeper, and the scoring was completed when Kelly Thornton completed her hat-trick, and made the final score 8-0 when she fired home a 20 yard free kick.
This was a good all round team performance with the pick of the players being Kelly Thornton and Zoe Ribchester who read the game well and gave a faultless display.
Belles Scorers:
Anya Limbert 4, Kelly Thornton 3, Beth Stephenson.
Saturday 8 May - CYGFL U14 9 a-side
Brayton Belles 2 - 2 Wetherby Athletic.
The biggest factor in this game was the strong wind, which blew straight down the field and favoured the Belles in the first half. Both teams were well matched and it was a competitive game, except for the influence of the wind, which enabled the Belles to pressurise the visiting defence and create the best first half chances. A series of excellent corners from Kelly Thornton caused panic and finally paid off when a Wetherby player deflected the ball into her own goal to give the Belles the lead after 15 minutes. With a minute to go to half time another Kelly Thornton corner was not cleared and Anya Limbert hit a left foot shot which went in off the post to make the score 2-0.
As expected Wetherby started the second half on the front foot and got a goal back after 10 minutes when their best player, broke down the left and finished well with a shot into the bottom corner. The Belles tried to break out and did create several good chance but were unfortunately unable to convert any and it was no surprise when the same Wetherby forward hit a good lob over the Belles keeper to equalise.
Overall a draw was a fair result.
Saturday 1st May. CYGFL U14 9 a-side.
Stamford Bridge 0 v 3 Brayton Belles.
The Belles overcame their opponents with a confident performance, but one which should definitely have had a more convincing scoreline. The tone was set from the start by keen refereeing which found both teams being given offside on numerous occasions, and being pulled up for several fouls.
The deadlock was broken after 20 minutes when Ciara McEvoy timed her run perfectly, onto a through ball from Zoe Ribchester, and finished well with a low shot past the keeper to give a 1-0 half time score.
The home keeper was playing particularly well but had no chance after 10 minutes of the second half, when a strong run and pinpoint cross from Anya Limbert was met first time by Ciara McEvoy who gave the keeper no chance, to score both her and the Belles second goal.
The Belles missed an opportunity when they were awarded a rare, but generous, penalty which was well saved by the keeper, but completed the scoring when Jodie Cliff beat the off-side trap, following a free kick, to run through from the half way line and score.
This was a good all round team performance, with Zoe Ribchetser in particular having an oustanding game
Belles Scorers: Ciara McEvoy 2, Jodie Cliff.
Thursday 29 April. ERGFL U14 11 a-side.
Brayton Belles 1 v 2 Malet Lambert.
The Belles went down by the odd goal on a miserable wet night at Thorpe, when lady luck was simply not on their side, despite what is now becoming their customary goal straight from the kick-off. Unbelievably for the third time this season the Belles scored without an opposition player touching the ball when Cairo Newby hit a the ball way into the air and the visiting keeper could not hold the ball or stop it crossing the line.
The game was fast and competitive given the poor conditions, but was effectively settled in the visitors favour after 20 minutes as they scored two goals in two minutes.
Firstly the Belles were unable to clear a corner on the left and as the ball was deflected onto a post the ball the rebound was forced home from close range. A minute later the visitors broke quickly, and a spectacular long range shot was brilliantly saved by keeper Emily Thomson, who pushed the ball onto the bar only to see it fall to another Malet player who taped the ball into the net.
The second half was equally competitive, but in contrast to their opponents the Belles hit the bar at least three times and the post twice only to see all their efforts cleared.
Belles Scorer: Cairo Newby.
Tuesday 27 April. CYGFL U14 9 a-side.
Brayton Belles 6 v 1 Heworth
The Belles entertained local rivals Heworth, and went on the attack straight from the first whistle. With only 5 minutes gone Flo Brown scored a lovely opening goal as she lobbed the keeper from the edge of the box, and then minutes later Cairo Newby scored again from close range following a corner. The visitors then dug in and defended well to leave the half time score 2-0.
The second half was only minutes old as Kelly Thornton scored with a solo run through the centre and finished with a controlled chip over the keeper, but then the visitors hit back and scored a goal of their own. At this point the Belles started to wear down the visitors defence, and it was no surprise when the goals started flow. After Anya Limbert had scored with a pacy run and cross shot, Kelly Thornton got her second with a trademark 30 yard lob over the keeper, and then the scoring was completed with a second for Cairo Newby with a fine left foot shot into the roof of the net.
Belles Scorers: Kelly Thornton 2, Cairo Newby 2, Flo Brown, Anya Limbert.
Saturday/Sunday 24/25 April.
Brayton Belles 2 v 3 South Cave.
It was Groundhog Day at Thorpe as the Belles lost to the division champions, by the same scoreline as earlier in the season. What was even more incredible was that the Belles scored first straight from the kick-off, when Cairo Newby took a floated pass from Kelly Thornton, and fired a left foot shot into the top corner. This was without a Cave player touching the ball, and was exactly what had happened in the game earlier in the season!
The Belles went close again when the visiting keeper saved a header from Emma Tune following a corner, but then Cave equalised when their star striker scored a fine individual goal running between defenders and flicking the ball home.
The Belles fell further behind when they were exposed for pace down the middle and Cave scored two more goals to make the score 3-1.
The Belles kept playing and just before the final whistle they scored a second when Kelly Thornton hit a spectacular free kick from 25 yards, which hit the underside of the bar before finding the net.
Despite the defeat this was a much better team performance from the Belles.
Belles Scorers:
Cairo Newby
Kelly Thornton
Harrogate 6 v 1 Brayton Bells U14
The classic footballing cliche " a tale of two halves" was never more true.
A competitive and equal first half saw the Belles take the lead when Sophie Hudson followed up a save by the keeper to force the ball, and then the home team hit back to equalise with a good long range shot.
There was no hint of what was to come as the second half started, but the home forwards soon started to punish a hesitant Belles defence in ruthless fashion, and fired in five unanswered goals.

BELLES OA REACH LEAGUE CUP FINAL
Brayton Belles 6 0 Northowram
Scorers Emma Knowles 2,Leah Rogers 1,Jess Dunn 1,Jenna Rogers 1,Tara Newell 1
A 6 0 win booked the Belles open age team into the League Cup final. The Belles passing the ball well from the start utilising the speed of Lotti Johnson and Jess Dunn on the wings were quick of the mark with Emma Knowles opening their account. Leah Rogers launched a ball on target from the half way for the Belles 2nd. Jess Dunn completed the first half score with a superb volley. The Belles defence were very rarely troubled by the visitors and not to be outdone by her sister Jenna Rogers also from the half way line was on target with Knowles quickly following for her 2nd. Tara Newell completed the scoring for the Belles making the final score 6 0.
Thanks to Frank Holleran for officiating the game and for the great support for the Belles with hospitality from the Red Lion at Hambleton.
Brayton belles 2 Malet lambert 0
Brayton didn't get off to best of starts as brayton again didn't look like they wanted to play. But as the first half went on brayton got more stuck in and started to press on malets defence, 5 minutes before half time Gabby Carroll struck home for belles with a brilliant low shot that went into the bottom corner of the net leaving malets keeper stranded. Elisha Hardcastle then made it 2-0 seconds before half time. Brayton started the second half as the first but again as the half
> went on brayton become more confident and battled well with Rachel Newman, emily barker, hannah collier and rachel keil Isaac all getting stuck in. Keeper Lucy haskell did what she needed to do when malet came calling. Player of the week went to Rachel Newman for showing that she can get stuck in and tackle well.
CYGFL U14 9 a-side Result: Brayton Belles 3 v 0 Ripon City.
Scorers, Brayton : Anya Limbert, Melissa Till, Jodie Cliff.
After two weeks of nothing to show for their positive efforts the Belles finally got their reward for a good team performance as they defeated their higher placed opponents in a quality game by 3 goals to nil.
Both teams were playing good football and for 25 minutes it was stalemate although the Belles did have the better of the chances. With half-time approaching the game came to life as a bouncing ball just outside the area was pounced upon by the ever alert Amy Wilson who fired a shot goal-wards which brought a good save from the Ripon keeper, however Anya Limbert was on hand to dispatch the rebound and give the Belles the lead. The visitors responded immediately and they went straight down the field and a cracking shot going for the top corner was well saved by keeper Melissa Till, to leave the half-time score 1-0.
The second half started in the same competitive way and the Belles were able to extend their lead when a cross from the right was met first time by Melissa Till who, after coming out of goal at half time, hit a strong right foot shot past the Ripon keeper.
The scoring was completed when Jodie Cliff broke away to hit a nice shot past the keeper to make the final score 3-0.
This was a solid team performance, with several good performances particularly from Amy Wilson, Emma Tune and Zoe Ribchester.

Belles U12 green v Driffield 4 - 2
Belles skipper Chelsea Head Ellis became attacker and scored a super goal on 10 minutes giving the Belles the lead against Driffield but Driffield spotted an opportunity to equalise shortly after firing in a long range shot over the Belles goalies head, which made the scores 1 all at half time.
The Belles passed well and attacked relentlessly which lead to them taking the lead again on the 33rd minute, the ball landed in the goal area from a corner and Head-Ellis cleverly back heeled the ball into the Driffield net. Driffield not prepared to give up so easily and with a sniff of a point in sight, placed an inch perfect corner onto the head of one of their attackers which fired into the greens goal to equalise once again.
The greens were determined to keep on pressuring, searching for the lead once again and it was Ellie Comerford this time who scored a technically brilliant goal when she superbly volleyed the ball into the Driffield net in the 44th minute. Driffield looked like they had no fight left in them and with the Belles rampaging in the Driffield half, Head Ellis managed to secure a well deserved hat trick, the final score was Brayton Belles Greens 4-2 Driffield. Players of the match were Head-Ellis and Comerford who despite scoring the goals worked relentlessly and showed great skill throughout the game.
The rest of the team were also congratulated on their performance providing the necessary passes for the goals and defending well: Jenny Clay, Gemma Robinson, Sarah Huggins, Aine Abbott, Shannon Yorke and Giorgia Bromley
Many thanks to Jess Dunn for officiating many games this season and to the Belles players and their parents for their commitment to attend games and training throughout this very successful season. We now look forward to the cup semi final on the 17th April 10.
York RI 3 v 2 Brayton Belles
Brayton Scorers, York RI Own Goal, Cairo Newby.
Report. The Belles were desperately unlucky not to get anything from a thoroughly entertaining game. After an open start on a big pitch the Belles found themselves a goal down after 15 minutes when a York shot was deflected into their own goal by a defender.
It was 2-0 only minutes later when a York forward broke away and finished with a fine shot into the bottom corner. The Belles responded well and fought back to make it 2-1 just before half time when a cross from Katie Todd was this time deflected into the York net by a defender.
In the second half the Belles began to believe in themselves and took advantage of the space to control the ball and make their possession count. It was no surprise when a good run out of defence by Kelly Walker was followed by a pin-point pass which gave Cairo Newby the chance to equalise with a confident finish.
Despite having a host of other chances the Belles were unable to convert any and it was against the run of play when, with only minutes to go, York scored the winner following a cross from the right.
Fulford 7-2 Brayton Belles u11
It's the oldest cliche in football, but this was really a game of two halves. In the first half the Belles took the game to Fulford straight from the off and Emily Bolton scored her first goal for the club after only 2 minutes. Fulford equalized soon after, despite a fine save from Nia Major, the Fulford forward was on hand to slot home the rebound. The girls shrugged off the setback and retook the lead after good work from Ola Mleczek, Rebecca Risebrow finished well to nudge the Belles back in front. For the rest of the half the Belles pushed forward, but despite a lot of possession, they couldn't finish the chances that came their way, still the girls went in to half time with a lead.
What happened in the second half left the Belles coaches shaking their heads in disbelief in what enfolded, the Belles produced their worse spell of play for the whole season and totally collapsed to concede 6 goals.
The second half performance is best forgotten and hopefully the girls can bounce back next week at Tockwith.
Belles U16 v Hessle Rangers 0 - 3
Brayton started this match under pressure straight from the kick off with Hessle pushing for an early goal, and getting one after 5 minutes.
This was the blow Brayton needed to spring into life. Birch and Roche again took charge of the midfield winning the ball with some solid challenges and distributing the ball well to Bisby and Parkin up front.
Although the Belles created many chances to equalise the Rangers keeper was on top form. Hessle hit Brayton on the break and against the run of play scored their second just before half time.
Brayton fought hard to get back into the match but despite another great performance by Jodie Lund at the back they were once again were caught by a sucker punch giving Hessle a 3 - 0 victory.
Player of the match went to Jess Thompson.

CYGFL U14 9 a-side Cup
Brayton Belles 1 - 2 Harrogate Railway.
On a beautiful morning at Thorpe, a thoroughly entertaining game and a tremendous advert for girls football just went in favour of the visitors.
After an even start Harrogate took the lead after 10 minutes when keeper Autumn Freeman, who made several important staves during thegame, was beaten at the near post. Brayton responded well but spent the remainder of the first half chasing and harassing a committed Harrogate side who had the better of the goal scoring chances.
The second half saw a more positive performance from the Belles who started to take control of the midfield, with Kelly Thornton playing particularly well, and it was no surprise when Cairo Newby thumped in a fine equaliser. However for all their possession and territory the Harrogate defence stood firm and restricted the Belles to largely long range efforts.
With 5 minutes remaining Harrogate scored what would prove to be the winner when one their forwards would not give up on a bouncing ball in the penalty area and flicked the ball into the net.
Belles U 16 v Hessle Town 1 - 5
This match turned out to be a game of two half's with the Belles dominating the first half and Hessle the second.
Some great closing down work from the Belles stopped the Hessle players settling on the ball and allowed Brayton to create some fine attacking moves. Birch and Roche took charge of the midfield spreading the ball wide to Brown and Merry who combined well with Parkin and Priddy up front to create some good chances. The best move of the half saw a combination of quick passes straight through the centre of Hessle defence ending with striker Lucy Parkin giving the Hessle keeper no chance by smashing the ball into the back of the net. Hessle came back well and with only a few minutes left equalised.
Brayton struggled with injuries in the second half and couldn't cope with Hessle's continuous pressure. Despite some great defending from Lund, Ibbetson, Ward and Thompson and missed chances up front from Bisby and Parkin the exhausted Belles eventually caved in losing the match 5 - 1
Player of the match went to Jodie Lund
Brayton Belles (U10 York League Cup ) 0 - 1 Scotton
The same result as a few weeks previously but this time the teams met in the cup competition. Belles keeper Emma MacIntosh again in terrific form pulling off some fine saves in front of the hard working defence of Isobel Bromley, Rhian Till and Grace Moring who each made fine challenges and clearances. Midfielders Anna Linton and Olivia Howard pushed forward and released Amy Dallison to unsettle the Scotton defence and keeper. Scotton were playing some nice football and a clever pass in a crowded box enabled a good shot into the Belles goal. Tavi Brown, Rebecca Gleason and Lucy Haley added further pace and pressure but it was Scotton who progress to the next stage of the cup. This U10 squad season is now over and they have had a great time, the rest of the squad with Molly Harrison and debutant to the Belles Isobel Spray had an excellent game who more than played their part in a nine a side friendly. The girls now look forward to training, tournaments and friendlies and now is the ideal time for girls thinking of joining to come along and have a taster session and the fun the belles have. belles had a number of chances in the first half to open up a significant lead but failed to take them ,as the first half drew to a close there was only one goal between the teams.
however, the second half began at a higher tempo with both teams playing some excellent football ,brayton stepped up the pressure with some fluent passing which undid the hessle defence for belles to extend their lead further ,hessle pulled one back shortly afterwards, belles then hit the back of the net once more to reinstate the two goal advantage before the homeside hit back once again, belles hit the killer blow 5 minutes from time to put the end result beyond doubt. .beth stephenson ,zoe ribchester, codie hencheaon, kelly walker worked tirelessly through-out with keeper emily thompson confident when called upon midfielders amy wilson, sophie hudson ,ciara mcevoy and the very busy kelly thornton all played superbly through-out .
Brayton Belles v Westella & Willerby 1 - 0
Hannah Priddy scored the only goal in this tough East Riding League cup quarter final match.
Both teams fought hard to dominate this match which became a battle of wills throughout. Jess Bisby and Zoe Ibbettson came close for the Belles early on, only to come up against a very good Westella keeper. When the opposition did attack the Belles defence held firm under the guidance of the outstanding Jodie Lund. The decisive goal came on 32 minutes when Parkin struck a fierce shot which again was brilliantly saved by the opposition keeper only to be parried into the path of the on running Priddy who calmly slotted the ball home.
The Belles eventually started to dominate the second half pushing forward for the all important second goal which they were desperately unlucky not to get. This gave Westella hope of an equaliser right up until the final whistle. And they nearly caught the Belles out on a few occasions with some swift counter attacking football. The final score 1 - 0 to the Belles, who now face Hornsea in the semi final.
Player of the match went to Ashley Rowe.
Scarborough 4 - 0 Brayton Belles U10
You can`t say the U10 Belles haven`t tried their best this season, coming to their last league game without a victory, you could think that their chips were down to say the least. Not this lot, a full squad travelled to the table topping seasiders place to hopefully stop them coasting to victory. Both teams started with good football and the Belles forwards Anna Linton and Rebecca Gleason with Amy Dallison pushing forward gave the belles confidence and kept the ball well. Scarborough came back with waves of attacks forcing the defence of Isobel Bromley, Grace Moring, Rhian Till and midfielder Olivia Howard to battle hard to keep them at bay. Belles player of the week, goalkeeper Emma MacIntosh superbly closed down shooting angles from the Scarborough players certain goal bound shots on goals which gained many applauds from all spectators. Inevitably Scarborough made the breakthrough and scored two well taken goals. Tavi Brown, Molly Harrison and Lucy Haley tried to bring the Belles back into the game but a further two goals made the final score 4 nil. The Belles need not and will not bury their heads in the sand as they play possibly their last game in a cup match next week at home to Scotton.
Brayton belles 0 A.F.C Tickton 4
Brayton started off well in the first half. The battled hard and never gave up. A defence of Rachel keil Isaac, keeper Lucy Haskell and lucy Robinson kept Tickton away. When the whistle went for half time brayton looked tired and that showed in the second half ticktons goals came in quick succession but belles couldn't bounce back, but with captin Gabby Carroll and hannah collier battling hard and tackling
well belles had a glimmer of hope. Elisha hardcastle and rachel Newman also got stuck but time wasn't on braytons side. The final whistle went and belles were out of the cup. Player of the week went to rachel keil Isaac for her outstanding
performance in defence.
Belles U12A v Grass roots 1 - 0
Brayton Belles U12 greens booked their place in the semi finals of the East Riding cup, with a win against third division side Grass Roots 4 All. Although playing underdogs, the Belles knew this would not be an easy game and showed great professionalism to chalk out this win, despite it not being their best display of the season.
The greens had several chances go begging, but just before half time Rosie Hutton leading Greens striker, scored a fantastic goal to give the Belles the lead.
In the second half the greens held strong in defence and Grass Roots 4 All never looked like scoring, the final result was Brayton Belles U12 Greens 1-0 Grass roots 4 All. Player of the match was Sarah Huggins for fantastic defending and many thanks to Frank Holleran for refereeing.
U12 Blue 1 - Tickton B 2 Brayton Scorer Gemma Huddlestone
Belles U12 Blue team were host to Tickton B team in the cup. The game was very evenly matched and it took a blistering strike from Tickton to open the scoring after 20 mins. The Belles played their best game of the season so far passing the ball really well defending , marking and from the second half they were well on top. Captin Kaitlyn Doncaster had a shot on target which came back off the bar and Gemma Huddlestone tapped the ball in to equalise. The Belles had many chances with Emily Murphy, Charlotte Cliff and Kelly Holme all coming close to score. With extra time looking very likely 2 mins from the end Tickton were fortunate to score making the final score 1 2. Players of the match were awarded to Emily Murphy and Ella Wilkinson. Thanks to Vicky Harrison for officiating the game.
Saturday 27th February 2010
Brayton Belles U12 Green 13-0 Hornsea
Hornsea gave the Belles a couple of early warnings by creating two lovely opportunities, which nearly saw the Belles trailing after only a few minutes from kick off. However Belles left winger Aine Abbott displayed some courageous and creative football, leading to her scoring the opener for the Belles after 5 minutes.
This then seemed to open the flood gates for the Belles who had a goal frenzy with Rosie Hutton striker and green teams top scorer sinking a further 3 goals past the Hornsea keeper in the following 5 minutes and a further goal came from striker Ellie Comerford just before the half time whistle.
The Belles had much of the possession in the second half again pinning their opponents in their own half and with some fantastic team work and hunger to score more goals this resulted in a further 8 Belles goals being scored 1 for Hutton, Gemma Robinson 1, Abbott 2, Shannon Yorke 1, Emily Morton 1, Comerford 1 and 1 for defender and skipper Chelsea Head-Ellis.
There were only three Belles players who did not score Jenny Clay, Sarah Huggins and Giorgia Bromley however they played their part in the teams success by creating opportunities for their team mates and displaying some fantastic attacking and defending football, also ensuring that the Belles did not concede any goals. The whole team were awarded player of the match for a brilliant team display and the final score was Brayton Belles U12 Green 13-0 Hornsea.
Malet Lambert 1 - Belles Blue 1
U12 Blue team travelled to Bishop Burton for their league game against Malet Lambert. From the K.O. the belles chased the ball down stopping Malet from passing and 15 mins in Captain Kaitlyn Doncaster opened the scoring for the Belles with both Gemma Huddlestone and Emily Murphy also coming close.
The Belles defence of Nicole Husband, Ella Wilkinson with wingers Charlotte Cliff and Francesca Bettison working relentlessly the Belles looked comfortable.Subsitute keeper Kelly Holme was unfortunate as Malet managed an equaliser making the final score 1 all.
Players of the game were awarded to Cliff and Doncaster for their outstanding contribution.
Saturday 20th February 2010
Poppleton Tigers U14 2 2 Brayton Belles (9 a-side)
Brayton came from behind twice to secure a share of the points against the league leaders but were unlucky not to win the game outright. The Belles had the chances in the first half but failed to capitalise as Poppleton went one up at half time.
At the start of the second half, the Belles applied pressure and were rewarded with an equaliser from Flo Brown.
Poppleton went ahead once more against the run of play, but with 10 minutes to go Emily Thompson popped up to hustle the ball home after confusion in the home-sides defence
to level once more.
Braytons defence of Zoe Ribchester, Abbi Gaskell, and Jessica Senior held firm through-out as the Tigers went in search for a winner but were denied. Braytons 9 aside team are on a good run of form at the moment and this showed by the way they have gone into games with positive attitude and a great team spirit.
Belles U12A v Scarborough 7 - 2
Brayton Belles U12 Greens were determined to get back to form after their recent first defeat of the season, so it was of no surprise that enthusiastic attacker Gemma Robinson 'Robbo' created the Belles opener just after a minute from kick off to get the Belles off to a great start.
With some clever passing, fantastic dribbling and energetic runs down the wing from Robbo, Rosie Hutton, Ellie Comerford, Shannon Yorke, Emily Morton, Giorgia Bromley and Aine Abbott the Belles scored a further 3 goals in the first half Hutton 1 and Abbott 2. But Scarborough were a positive team who fought back and created a couple of goals themselves in the first half, which kept the belles on their toes
However the Belles had most of the possession in the 2nd half, boxing Scarborough in their own half and making it difficult for them to attack the Belles. Any opportunities they did have were expertly defended by Jenny Clay, Sarah Huggins and skipper Chelsea Head Ellis. Not content to just defend though, Huggins became attacker converting a goal from a corner and then struck a ball goal bound from 20 yards out which took a deflection off a Scarborough player and went in the net. Fellow defender Clay made a brilliant run with the ball and a great piece of individual play lead to her also grabbing a goal to make the final score Scarborough 2-7 Brayton Belles. Despite the whole team playing brilliantly players of the match were awarded to Robbo and Huggins.
Regards
Brayton Belles u11's 0-1 Stamford Bridge Scorpions
The Belles produced some of their best football of the season at home to the Scorpions but still ended up losing.
In a highly entertaining game with both teams playing well, the Belles just needed a little more composure in front of goal.
The first half was end to end with Nia Major playing well in goal and player of the week Emily Hindle providing a formidable barrier alongside Evie Linton.
Ruby Oates did a good job for the team in marking Scorpions top scorer out of the game. Ola Mlcezek, Emily Owen and Rebecca Risebrow performed well up front without any luck, with Ola hitting both post and crossbar. The Scorpions took the lead just after half time with a scrappy goal that just trickled in despite the desperate dive of Nia.
Even in defeat the girls can take great pride in a fine team performance.
Saturday 13th February 2010
Brayton Belles U11's 5-0 Cayton Corinthians U11's
After only one game this year the Belles were rusty in the first half of this game and were grateful to the defending of captain Evie Linton, Emily Hindle and backed up by keeper Nia Major. It was a relief all round when Emily Owen opened the scoring.
The girls came out more determined in the second half and driven forward by Ruby Oates from midfield, took the game to Cayton with Ola Mlcezek scoring the second goal to put the Belles in charge. Sub Emily Bolton came on and started making strong runs down the right wing.
Hannah and Jessica Mellor Davis also provided able support from the bench as the girls poured forward in attack. The Belles ended the brave resistance of Cayton with two quick goals from Rebecca Risebrow and Ola. There was just enough time for player of the week Ola Mlcezek to complete her hat trick and complete the scoring.
Hessle Town Girls U10 1 1 Brayton Belles U10
The Belles didn't look like they were ever going to start in this game. Hessle's goal came midway through the first half with their first shot saved brilliantly by Belles keeper Lucy Haskell but unfortunately it rebounded off the post and Hessle slotted it home.
The second half was nearly the same as the first half. Brayton were lucky that Hessle's goal tally didn't increase. But with 5 minutes left Rachel Keil-Isaac slotted home from close range to save Brayton from defeat. Player of the week went to Elisha Hardcastle for her hard work and determination throughout the game. Credit must also to Hessle as they played a good game.
Cayton Corinthians U14 3 - 4 Brayton Belles U14 (9 a-side League)
The Belles battled and hustled their way into the next round of the York League Cup with an excellent second half display of guts and determination.
The first half began however, with the home side dictating the play who quickly opened up a two goal lead, but with five minutes to go of the first half Jessica Senior popped up at the edge of Cayton's six yard area to slam the ball home to keep the Belles in touch.
Brayton began the second half with a much more positive attitude and began to break the home sides resilience. Captain Jodie Cliff nipped in as she latched on to a perfect through ball from Kelly Thornton to equalise. With extra time looming the home side went ahead once more but Kelly Thornton replied with two excellent strikes to turn the match upside down. Brayton held on to the end to secure their place in the next round. A gutsy team performance with Emily Thompson commanding the centre of the park and the Belles defence of Zoe Ribchester, Abbi Gaskell, Codie Henceon held solid throughout not to mention the rest of the team who played their part.

BELLES U16 v Hessle Sporting 5 - 0
Brayton started their first match in over seven weeks in a very lethargic way. most of the players were second to the ball and Sporting could have taken the lead early on if it wasn't for keeper Jade roche, who gave a very competent performance throughout.
The Belles slowly started to wake up and a quick break and cool finish by Lucy Parkin put them one up. Brayton snatched a second just before half time when Katie Merry (player of the match) poked the ball home after a great passing move between Lund, Bisby and Brennan. Stout defending especially from Ashley Rowe and Megan Birch meant that Brayton held a 2 - 0 lead, against the run of play at half time.
A different Brayton came out in the second half. All the team ensured that they were first to the ball and passed and moved the ball around much better. Both full backs Ward and Brown tamed the Hessle wingers. This led to three more goals from Brennan, Bisby and a second from Parkin to give Brayton a good start to the second half of the season.
BELLES U12 GREEN v Malet Lambert 2 - 5
For their first competitive game of 2010 Brayton Belles U12 Green Team were uncharacteristically disorganised and lethargic against a spirited Malet Team. The Belles had oodles of opportunities to score especially in the first half, but the side netting was the Belles enemy and chances were not converted into goals. Although Rosie Hutton striker (player of the match and greens top goalscorer) showed some willingness to try and lead her green team mates to victory, by scoring two super goals in the second half. However it was not enough for the Belles and they lost 5-2.
North Ferriby 4 Brayton Belles U12 Blue 0
Despite the score line Brayton Belles U12 Blue team played very well especially in the second half. Nicole Husband, Ella Wilkinson , Kelly Home and Faith ODonnell Stokes in defence made it very hard for Ferriby to break through. Kaitlyn Doncaster, Francesca Bettison, Emily Murphy, Gemma Huddlestone and Charlotte Cliff passed the ball well and were unfortunate not to score. It was a good team performance by the Belles and players of the match were awarded to Emily Murphy and Nicole Husband.
Saturday 30 January.
Wetherby Athletic 2 - 4 Brayton Belles U14
The Belles U14 9 a-side team, captained by Abbi Gaskell, managed to beat both the weather and their higher placed opponents, as they played for the first time in 7 weeks.
Playing on a small pitch and a hard surface it was always going to require a competitive performance, and the Belles did not disappoint as the whole team ran their socks off to secure the win.
The game was only minutes old when their opponents broke through the middle and looked certain to score, but keeper Emily Thomson came off her line quickly and made a fine save. The match was end to end and embodied all that is good about the game with both sides competing and creating chances. The home side struck first when their best player was first to a bouncing ball in the area and hit a fine shot into the roof of the net.
Undeterred the Belles fought back and equalised with a lovely first time passing move down the right which ended with Ciara McEvoy crossing for Sophie Hudson to score from close range. Just before half time the Belles took the lead when a long kick from keeper Emily Thomson bounced over the defenders and was chased by Jodie Cliff, who beat the keeper with a confident finish.
The second half was a carbon copy of the first with both sides continuing to play well, but it was the Belles who took a 3-1 lead, when Sophie Hudson broke through again to score. The home side hit back and scored another to make it 3-2, when their same player scored her second goal with a good shot into the bottom corner, but the Belles managed to wrap up the win when Anya Limbert scored to make it 4-2.
All the girls played well, with their defence in particular chasing and closing down their opponents. The bonus of the day was Jessica Senior, playing her first game for six months after injury, coming through unscathed and having a fine game.
Brayton Belles u11's 3-2 Scotton
The Belles played there first game for 8 weeks, but it didn't show as they took an early lead through Rebecca Risebrow who beat 3 players before shooting past the Scotton keeper.
The Belles continued to press in the first half with Ola Mlceczek and Emily Owen playing well upfront and in midfield. Scotton came more into the game before halftime and grabbed an equaliser just before the break.
Scotton came out strongly in the second half and took the lead with a break away goal. The girls heads never dropped and with Emily Hindle, Evie Linton and Ruby Oates in defence backed up by Nia Major in goal took the game to Scotton and levelled when Ola scored from the spot after a handball in the area.
The Belles continued to press and the winner came late on when Rebecca scored to seal the points for Brayton.
Saturday 23 January.
U12 Brayton Blue 2 - 4 Malet Lambert U12s B
Belles U12 Blue team hosted Malet Lambert B for their first game of the new year. The Belles started the game well with Kelly Holme firing past the Malet keeper. Malet equalised and scored again making the half time score 1 2. Malet started the 2nd half with another goal but the Belles came back with Captain Kaitlyn Doncaster passing through to Gemma Huddlestone who netted the Belles 2nd. The Belles continued to battle well but Malet had the last goal Final score 2 4
Player of the match was awarded to Gemma Huddlestone for her determination and effort.
Brayton Belles U14 4 - 0 Pinefleet WolfretonU14
Playing for the first time in 7 weeks there was a little apprehension as the Belles faced a side just above them in the league. However, they opened the scoring on 14 minutes when Kelly Thornton beat a couple of players with a surging run through the middle and scored with a fine shot into the bottom corner.
They could easily have added to their tally as Anya Limbert first hit the post and then the bar, before Kelly Thornton scored her second with a brilliant lob over the keeper into the top of the net.
The second half started with captain Amy Wilson continuing to have her usual influential game in midfield, and the Belles defence comfortably dealing with the visiting attack, and it was no surprise when Anya Limbert ran through to score the Belles third goal with a cross shot past the keeper.
With 4 minutes to go the Belles finished the scoring with the best flowing move of the game down the right as Kelly Thornton played a lovely pass through to Emily Thomson, who never broke stride as she hit a first time left foot shot past the helpless keeper.
Brayton Belles U10 0 - 1 Scotton Scorchers U10
Both teams came out playing good controlled football with both defenses playing well. The Belles keeper Olivia Howard made some great saves and strong kick outs gave the attackers Amy Dallison, Tavi Brown and Anna Linton chances. Scotton spread the ball well and challenged the Belles with some superb crosses but player of the match Lucy Haley with Rian Till and Grace Moring dealt with everything.
The second half saw the introduction of Molly Harrison into defence and Rhian Till to move upfront, which started to pay dividends. Scotton still had their chances and a side step and a firm shot put them 1 up with 2 minutes to go. Till and Linton thought they had done enough to get a deserved equaliser but saw an effort go inches past the far post but it wasn`t to be. All in all a great team effort which finished in a smiles and eager for the next game.

Rosie Hutton striker grabbed herself a first half hatrick and more goals came for the Belles in the second half with Aine Abbott, Emily Morton and Gemma Robinson all getting themselves on the score sheet with a goal a piece.
This was another superb team effort from the greens, who showed great creative flair, organisation and teamwork. Players of the match were shared by Hutton and stalwart defender Sarah Huggins.

Brayton belles 2 Goole town girls 0
Belles away match turn into a home game after gooles pitch was flooded. belles wanted to get their second win on the trott after a pectacular win last week against pinefleet. In the first half brayton had all the posession and hardly went into their own half, brayton had plenty of chances to go in front but a penalty taken by Rachel Newman was saved by gooles keeper. More chances went and still no goal until Katie Marshall came on and scored a brilliant well struck shot to give brayton the lead. A few minutes later Katie had another shot but it
rebounded off the keeper only for gabriella Carroll to put the ball in the back off the net and make it two for brayton. In the second half
goole ventured into braytons half only for them to be stopped by a very strong defence of Emily barker, Lucy robinson and keeper Lucy Haskell. Player of the week went to rachel keil Isaac for her brilliant work and for getting stuck in and also helping striker Elisha hardcastle when she was on the pitch.
BELLES U12B v Pinefleet 2 - 0
With only 6 players the U12 Blue team travelled to Pinefleet. The Belles were quick to apply pressure by chasing down the ball and passing well and it was Gemma Huddlestone who opened up the scoring for the Belles by placing a superb ball passed the Pinefleet keeper.

Brayton Belles U11s 1 - 4 York RI U11s
A tight defensive display from Evie Linton, Ruby Oats and Emily Hindle combined with solid goal keeping from Nia Major ensured the first half was scoreless.
Early in the second, Rebecca Risebrow slotted the ball through to Emily Owen who skipped up the wing and blasted into the roof of the net.
York quickly equalised, despite the efforts of player of the week Ola Mleczek and substitute Emily Boulton, York RI just wouldn't succumb. Although they were cheered on by substitutes Hannah and Jessica Mellor Davis, the Belles tired and York went on to seize full advantage.
Brayton Belles U12 Green 1 - 0 AFC Tickton A
The young U12 greens were an excitable bunch playing
their socks off against league leaders Tickton and looking forward to the
first ever Belles Xmas party that night.
Belles keeper Jenny Clay was kept busy in the first ten minutes but from then
on, it was plain sailing for The Belles, as they eased their way in to the
lead on the 18th minute with a shot from Aine Abbott. There was some impressive passing between Rosie Hutton, Giorgia Bromley, Shannon Yorke, Emily Morton and Ellie Comerford which meant that the Tickton defence was tested on numerous occasions and The Belles defence of Chelsea Head-Ellis, Gemma Robinson and Sarah Huggins joined in with the action ensuring that The Belles kept another clean sheet.
This put the Belles in the lead of the U12 Div 1 East Riding Girls league for now. Players of the match were Giorgia Bromley for the brilliant effort she put in as sweeper and Jenny Clay for her courageous goal keeping.
Brayton Belles U12 Blue 0 0 North Ferriby U12s
Brayton Belles U12 Blue team held the unbeaten top of the table North
Ferriby to a 0 0 draw. Player of the match Faith ODonnell Stokes pulled off
some top class saves from the Ferriby forwards. Captain Kaitlyn Doncaster made some impressive runs linking up well with Gemma Huddlestone but were unable to convert the chances. The Belles team worked as a unit and were congratulated on their team performance. Well done.
AFC Tickton U14 0 -12 Brayton Belles U14
The goals rained in at Beverley as the Belles completely outplayed bottom of the table Tickton, scoring 6 goals in each half.
A sticky pitch did not stop the Belles from playing positive passing football from the kick-off and creating numerous chances. Starting from the back The Belles defence snuffed out any forward moves by the home team, and the support and passing from the midfield, fuelled an attack which simply had too much pace and movement for them to deal with.
Katie Todd was on top form again, with countless cutting runs and crosses causing havoc in the home defence, one of which led to the best of goals, a lovely glancing header from Cairo Newby.
Pick of the rest were, a solo run and calm side foot finish by Amy Wilson, a fierce shot into the top corner from Katie Todd, and an instinctive first time strike from Emily Thomson.
Scorers for the Belles were Anya Limbert with 4, Katie Todd and Emily Thomson with 2 each, and one each for Cairo Newby, Ciara McEvoy, Amy Wilson and Jodie Cliff.
28th NOVEMBER 2009
Brayton Belles U12 greens had success in the mud during their East Riding League cup game V Costello.
The greens worked tremendously hard as a team on a very boggy Costello pitch, creating opportunities to score throughout the game and making it difficult for Costello to break out of their half.
Any chances Costello had were expertly denied by the relentless work from goalies Emily Morton and Jenny Clay, aided by some fantastic defending from Gemma 'Robbo' Robinson, Chelsea Head-Ellis and Sarah Huggins. The Belles were also on attacking form with sweeper Ellie Comerford breaking the deadlock on the 18th minute to make it 0-1 at half time. Rosie Hutton attacker made some creative runs and managed to slot the 2nd for the Belles in the 32nd minute ensuring that the game did not go to extra time. Shannon Yorke and Emily Morton courageously dribbled with the ball and fed some great passes through for their team mates to get on the end of, which lead to Aine Abbott and Giorgia Bromley managing to sneak themselves a goal a piece in the dying minutes of the game to make the score Costello 0-4 Brayton Belles U12 greens. The Belles have secured themselves a place in the next round of the cup and all players were awarded player of the match due to this great team performance.
Brayton belles u10's 0 Beverly whitestar u10's 0
This game for brayton should of been an easy ride for them but a much improved Beverly team were out to prove a point. Belles started off well but there was no way through beverleys stuburn defence. Rachel Newman, Gabriella carroll, Rachel keil Isaac when she was on the pitch and Elisha hardcastle had numerous chances to but brayton on the score sheet but shot after shot went wide or was blocked by beverleys defence.
But when Beverly had a chance to score Lucy Robinson, Emily barker and Lucy Haskell were there to clean up for brayton. The second half was much the same as the first brayton had the more and better chances but they just couldn't finish it. The final few minutes of the match were nail biting as brayton came so close to winning the game but it ended in a draw. Player of week went to Katie Marshall for getting stuck in, making brilliant tackles and driving the team forward.
York R.I. 1-1 Brayton Belles
The Belles played away at league leaders York R.I. and put in their best performance of the season so far, taking the game to the undefeated York side with some great passing moves, twice the girls came close to scoring, first from a shot from outside the area from Rebecca Risebrow which slipped through the keepers hands but she recovered well to stop the ball on the line, Then the keeper reacted well to stop a deflection off her own player from a corner by Ola Mleczek. The Belles defence of Evie Linton, Emily Hindle and Ruby Oates were performing well to repel the potent York attack, but midway through the first half York were awarded a dubious penalty, but justice was served as the York player blazed high over the bar.
The girls maintained the pressure on the York goal in the first half with Emily Bolton continuing her fine recent form with a battling performance in midfield, the Belles thought they had taken the lead with a tremendous shot from range from Ola but the York keeper pulled off a fantastic save.
The Belles piled the pressure on in the second half with player of the week Emily Owen making some great surging runs down the left wing and it was no surprise when Emily opened the scoring with a fine finish. Nia Major came in to her own in goal as the girls started to tire, but she could do nothing to stop York equalising after a good passing move with about five minutes to play. The Belles nearly snatched all the points in the last minute as they had done the previous week when after another fine run and cross from Emily Owen the two Belles players free in the centre couldn't quite get a touch to win the game. This was a performance all the girls can be proud of.
Flamborough 0 - 9 Brayton Belles
On a very pleasant autumn morning at the coast the Belles duly dispatched their second division opponents with a clinical display.
Starting with a goal in the first minute and then scoring at regular intervals the Belles dominated the game and went in at half-time 6-0 up.
It was much of the same in the second half as the Belles defence shut out the skillful home attack, with Emma Tune and Kelly Walker playing particularly well.
Katie Todd was excellent on the right hand side and gave her marker, who will probably have nightmares for weeks to come, a torrid time.
Up front the movement was very good with the pick of the goals both coming from Cairo Newby, with a cross shot from the edge of the box on the left into the opposite corner and the best a falling left foot shot into the top corner past the diving keeper.
Scorers for the Belles were Cairo Newby with 5 goals, and Katie Todd, Anya Limbert, Amy Wilson and Kelly Thornton with one each.
Brayton Belles U12 Blue 0 - Malet Lambert A 10
Belles U12 Blue team were host to Malet Lambert A team in the league cup soon after the kick off Malet opened the scoring but the Belles heads stayed up and Captain Kaitlyn Doncaster fired a shot just wide of the Malet keeper. It was the quick passing of Malet that lead to the score of 0 5 at half time.
The Belles tried really hard with Gemma Huddlestone, Charlotte Cliffe , Francessca Bettison and Emily Murphy linking up well and Kelly Holme, Carlie Hanson, Ella Wilkinson and Faith ODonnel Stokes trying to keep Malet at bay. Captain Kaitlyn , Huddlestone and Wilkinson all came close for the Belles but the final score was 0 10.
Player of the match was awarded to Captain Kaitlyn for her relentless running and good team play. Thanks to Frank Holleran for officiating the game.
21st NOVEMBER 2009
BELLES U16 DEFEAT LEAGUE LEADERS
Brayton travelled to League leaders Hessle Rangers full of determination after three weeks without a match.
If Rangers expected an easy match they were soon in for a shock. Brayton got into their stride quickly with Merry, Birch and Parkin bossing the midfield and creating several chances for the front three attackers. The Belles opening goal came from a well taken corner from Lund, which was met by the rising Brennan who headed the ball powerfully passed a stunned keeper.
The second half saw both teams coming close to scoring. Player of the match Jess Bisby held her nerve in the Belles goal making several competent saves. Mid way through the second half Brayton went two up after quick thinking defender Jess Thompson took a throw in into the path of Lund who dribbled the ball passed two Hessle players and chipped the ball over the keeper from 25 yards.
Hessle pushed the Belles defence to it's limit but the return of Eve Dawson gave them new resilience which they only let slip once, making the final score Rangers 1 Belles 2.
Belles U14 (9 a-side) 1 - 4 York RI.
The Belles started brightly and for the first 15 minutes possession and play were about equal, until the visitors intercepted a goal kick and scored the first goal. This was closely followed by two more before half time, but the Belles did not give up and despite the score were often the better side and were out-playing their opponents. Jodie Cliff, Emily Thomson & Chloe Parkin were all digging in and playing well and the 3-0 half time score was not a fair result on the match so far.
The Belles game out in the second half with renewed effort but once again against the run of play a long ball saw visitors score. This was not representative of a pretty solid performance by the back line made up of Rachael Grundy, Zoe Ribchester and AbbI Gaskell. The Belles dug deep however and had several opportunities with Emily Thomson and Jodie Cliff both going close, before their pressure finally told following a corner.
As the ball came out to Zoe Ribchesster on the edge of the box and she fired home a absolutely stunning goal, something which she has been promising to do all season.
The Belles had left it too late to turn the game, but yet again did not deserve to be on the losing team, with yet again a great effort by all.
Brayton U12A v Pinefleet 2 - 1
Another closely contested game took place this weekend between Brayton Belles Greens and Pinefleet Wolfreton, having drawn the week before both teams knew it would be a hard fought competitive game.
Both teams were focused and demonstrated some great football, with goal scoring opportunities on either side. But despite some courageous saves by Belles keeper Emily Morton, Pinefleet took the lead after 18 minutes, however this talented Belles side did not waiver and continued to ask questions of the Pinefleet defence.
Belles keeper Morton changed shirts with stalwart defender Jenny Clay at half time and created some fantastic opportunities outfield by linking up well with Belles striker Gemma 'Robbo' Robinson, left winger Aine Abbott and sweeper Giorgia Bromley. Accompanied by some great defending from Chelsea Head-Ellis and Sarah Huggins Pinefleet were pinned into their own half when Robbo struck a scorching shot on target from 20 yards out, which hit the top right of the Pinefleet goal and gave the Belles their much needed equaliser.
The Belles continued to mount attacks on Pinefleets goal with striker Rosie Hutton, winger Shannon Yorke and sweeper Ellie Comerford all adding pressure on Pinefleet but it was Morton who placed the Belles second superbly into the back of the net, to give them a well deserved lead. Not wanting a reoccurrence of the week before the Belles worked courageously as a team to keep Pinefleet at bay and comfortably retained the lead to make the final score Brayton Belles U12 greens 2-1 Pinefleet A. Players of the match were birthday girl Bromley, Morton and Robbo
A.F.C tickton 6 brayton belles 0
This game was always going to be hard for belles playing the team at the top of the league. But in recent form belles were growing stronger by each game they played. Brayton started off well but tickton were too strong for belles and went one up. The longer the game went on belles couldn't cope with tickton speed, dribbling skill and strength.
At half time the score was at 3-0 to tickton. But in the second belles drove into ticktons half and got there first corner with a chance of scoring but belles hit it wide. Tickton had chance after chance to make the goal tally even more but Emily barker, Lucy Robinson and goalkeeper Lucy Haskell kept the on coming wave of attack from tickton at bay. Rachel Newman, Gabriella Carroll, Katie Marshall, Rachel Keil Isaac and elisha hardcastle when they were on the pitch came back to help defend braytons goal but unfortunately tickton scored another three goals to make the end result 6-0 to tickton.
Player of the week went Emily barker for her goal saving tackles and spirit to keep going right until the final whistle. Hannah collier also played well but came off with an ankle injury.
Brayton Belles u11's 2-1 Fulford
The Belles got back to winning ways in a pulsating game which shredded the nerves of all coaches involved.
The Belles got off to a good start with Rebecca Risebrow scoring a great team goal after good work from Ola Mleczek, the rest of the first half was even with both teams pressing and player of the week Jessica Mellor Davis nearly adding a second goal.
In the second half Fulford put the Belles under constant pressure but the defence of Evie Linton and Ruby Oates held firm with Nia Major in goal playing well. Captain Emily Bolton was having an excellent game on the wing helping the defence out with some great tackles. Hannah Mellor Davis came on at half time and helped in a backs to the wall preformance, just as it looked like the girls would hold out until the end Fulford equalized with a fine strike from the end of the box. At this point the Belles would have settled for a point, but their heads didnt drop and they made one last effort and when Ola Mleczek squared the ball Rebecca Risebrow scored her second and winning goal. In truth this was harsh on Fulford who deserved at least a point, but the Belles deserve credit for a great team performance.
South Cave U14 3 - 2 Brayton Belles U14
The Belles got the best possible start, as they visited the league leaders, when they went a goal up straight from the kick-off. Katie Todd challenged strongly for the ball, and it fell to Anya Limbert who showed her pace to slice through the middle of a static defence and smash the ball past the keeper . South Cave then fought back and hit the bar with their first meaningful attack, before Anya scored her second to make it 2-0, as she raced onto a through ball from Kelly Thornton and lobbed the ball over the advancing keeper into the net. The same move was repeated minutes later but this time the ball hit the crossbar.
With half-time approaching South Cave got a goal back when they were first to a bouncing ball in the area to make the score 2-1.
In the second half South Cave started to take control of the game, although they were a little fortunate to get their equaliser from the penalty spot after a harsh handball decision. With 12 minutes to go South Cave got their winner, and although the Belles fought to the end they could not find an equaliser. Despite the defeat the Belles can take heart from a good team performance.
Brayton Belles Blue 2 - Flamborough Falcons 2
Belles U12 Blue team hosted Flamborough Falcons for an exciting nail biting league game. Flamborough fielding 6 players were organised and were the first to test Brayton keeper Kelly Holme. The game was evenly balanced but it was Flamborough that scored first with an individual effort on goal, not to be outdone Captain Kaitlyn Doncaster netted one back for the Belles. The Belles found their feet and it wasn't too long before Kaitlyn blasted in her second. Flamborough came back to make the half time score 2 - 2.
The Belles again were fantastic in the second half with Carlie Hanson, Francesa Bettison, Emily Murphy, Charlotte Cliffe and Gemma Huddlestone all coming close to scoring for the Belles but it was the defence of Nicole Husband and Ella Wilkinson with Faith O'Donnell Stokes that kept the Falcons at bay. Despite the Belles coming close the final score remained 2 - 2.
Player of the match was awarded to Nicole Husband for her defence and team work. Thanks to Vicky Harrison for officiating the game and to the spectators who seemed to thoroughly enjoy the match.
York RI U10 5-0 Belles U10 CYGFL
On the back of last weeks 0-2 defeat to RI the Belles squad knew it would be a touch match. The defence of Bromley and Howard in front of keeper McIntosh held firm from RI attacks and sweeper Haley
fed the ball for midfielders Moring and Harrison test the RI defence. Belles striker Brown continued to probe at the oppositions goal but to no avail. Just before half time RI scored two goals to deflate a good Half from the Belles.
From the off RI took hold of the second half and scored 3 in quick succession even with Till , Linton and Gleason fresh legs. This young side can take heart from their team spirit while developing week on week. Player of the match went to McIntosh.
14th NOVEMBER 2009
Brayton Belles U14 5 - 0 Scarborough Ladies U14
On a dry but windy day at Thorpe the Belles overcame a spirited Scarborough team with a workmanlike performance. The strong wind and hard surface made control difficult but both sides tried hard to play positive football.
The Belles took the lead after 18 minutes when persistence from Cairo Newby caused confusion in the visiting defence and left Anya Limbert to walk the ball over the line to score.
With half-time approaching the Belles the scored twice more, firstly through Anya Limbert who scored her second with a lovely turn and shot past the keeper, and then Cairo Newby fired the ball home after a fine run by Kelly Thornton, to make it 3-0.
In the second half the Belles defence continued to shackle the visiting forwards with
Kelly Walker reading the game particularly well.
The Belles made it 4-0 when Jodie Cliff wouldn't give up on a through ball and headed over the keeper before forcing the ball into the net. The fifth and final goal came just before the end when Amy Wilson picked up a ball on the edge of the box and scored with a shot which went in off the post.
Cottingham 3 Brayton Belles 2
Brayton Belles U12 Blue team travelled to Cottingham for a evenly matched league game. The Belles were quick off the mark with a fantastic pass from Francesca Bettison to debutant striker Gemma Huddlestone who slotted the ball in the corner of the net. The Belles battled well but it was a corner that saw Cottingham draw level. The Belles then switched off and allowed Cottingham to score a further 2 goals making the score 3 - 1 at half time.
Belles completely dominated the second half with captain Kaitlyn Doncaster scoring a superb goal by chipping the keeper from the halfway line. Emily Murphy and Charlotte Cliff battled well on the wings and the defence of Ella Wilkinson and Nicole Husband with Kelly Holme in goal prevented Cottingham scoring. Carlie Hanson came close for the Belles but the final score was Cottingham 3 Brayton Belles 2.
Players of the game were awarded to Kelly Holme, Gemma Huddlestone and "Captain Kaitlyn "
Stamford Bridge Scorpions 2-0 Brayton Belles u11's
The Belles, despite great effort, for the first time this season found themselves on the back foot for most of the game.
Emily Bolton standing in for Nia Major in goal had a great game with many outstanding saves, and was only pipped for the player of the week by the tremendous work rate and tackling of Ruby Oates.
Despite been under the cosh, the girls still carved out two decent chances with Emily Owen tantalisingly close to her first Belles goal and Ola Mleczek going close with another effort after good work by Rebecca Risebrow.
The score was still 0-0 at half time with good work in defence from Evie Linton and Emily Hindle. Hannah Mellor Davis came on for the second half and made some good runs down the left wing. The speedy and clever forwards for Stamford Bridge opened up the Belles early in the second half and took the lead, the girls tried hard but never looked like getting back in the game and Stamford sealed the game late on with a second goal.
North Ferriby 3 2 Brayton Belles U10 ERGFL
Spirited Belles unbeaten run comes to an end.
Brayton Belles 4 match unbeaten run came to and end at 2nd in the league North Ferriby. The game started with the Belles taking immediate control of the game keeping their opponents stuck in their own half. Despite the possession it was the hosts who opened the scoring with the unfortunate Lucy Robinson diverting the ball into her own net for an own goal. Despite the setback the Belles still had the majority of possession, without really troubling the Ferriby keeper. The 2nd goal for Ferriby again came against the run of play, but the Belles carried on taking the fight to their opponents. Their reward came following a sweeping move involving Elisha Hardcastle and Rachel Newman, who played Gabby Carroll in to shot from just inside the area giving the keeper no chance. The score remained 2-1 until half time. The beginning of the 2nd half mirrored the first with the Belles on the front foot, and it was no surprise when the equalising goal came. This time the roles were reversed as Carroll shot, the ball rebounded to Newman who slotted home. The game then became very open with Robinson, Emily Barker and Hannah Collier remaining strong in defence. Ferriby came back into the game but could not get the ball past keeper Lucy Haskell who denied them on several occasions, with some excellent saves. The Belles pushed for the winner, but sadly, despite Haskell making a fantastic double save Ferriby retook the lead during a goal mouth scramble. With time running out Brayton pressed again for an equaliser, but with time against them could not manage what would have been a deserved equalising goal. Haskell walked away with the Player of the Match trophy thanks to a number of terrific saves.
Despite the loss, this was probably the teams best performance of the season. The fact that Ferriby won the last meeting 7-1, proves the girls are improving and going in the right direction.
Belles U12A v Pinfleet A 2 - 2
The Belles U12 Green team started really well against their opponents Pinefleet Wolfreton. The Belles were by far the better team in the first half with Pinefleet never really looking like scoring and the chances that they did have were denied by keeper Emily Morton, who confidently ran out of the goal area several times to support her team mates. Sweeper Ellie Comerford was on top form and broke the deadlock on the 19th minute with a fine strike on goal and shortly after striker Jenny Clay found the target on the 21st minute to put the Belles two up going into half time.
However it was a game of two halves and Pinefleet nail bitingly came back at Brayton with some vigour in the second half and on the 35 minute Pinefleet scored giving themselves a glimmer of hope. Belles did not let this put them off their game however and had plenty more opportunities on goal with relentless and determined runs from Giorgia Bromley to gain possession of the ball so that the Belles could obtain a greater lead, but the Belles did not finish the chances they had worked hard for and had lots of near misses on goal.
Both teams continued to pressure each others goal areas searching for extra goals and on the 57th minute Pinefleet broke away from their half managing to tuck away the equaliser. The Final score was 2 - 2, all the Belles played well but the players of the match were Ellie Comerford, Emily Morton and Giorgia Bromley.

Brayton Belles U14 7 - 0 Stamford Bridge
Inspired by an all action 4 goal haul from captain Jodie Cliff, the Belles got their reward for yet another good team performance when they wore down Stamford Bridge.
The first half was mostly evenly matched, with the Belles perhaps having the better of the chances, but the only goal came a minute before the break when Jodie ran on at pace to beat the defence and fire home into the bottom corner.
In the second half the Belles started to get on top and within 15 minutes Jodie had scored three more goals. Two of them being identical route one balls, from clearances by keeper Emily Thomson, which left Jodie to finish calmly when one on one with the keeper. The Belles then surged forward to score three more goals through Kelly Thornton with two, and Sophie Hudson.
This was also the Belles first clean-sheet and was credit again to the improving back line of Rachael Grundy, Zoe Ribchester, and Abbi Gaskell.
Brayton Belles u11's 1-1 Stamford Bridge
A fine match played in a great spirit by two good teams with a draw probably a fair result after an end to end encounter.
The Belles took the game to Stamford in the early stages with Rebecca Risebrow and Ola Mleczek showing up well in attack, but the wind was taken out of their sails with a break away goal from Stamford Bridge with a shot from the edge of the area.
The girls regained their compouser with Evie Linton and captain Emily Hindle playing well together at the heart of the defence.
Despite a series of corners before half time, the Belles went in to half time a goal down.
The second half continued as the first with end to end football, with Ruby Oates protecting the defence well from the heart of midfield.
Nia Major continued to play well in goal with Emily Bolton showing well on the wing. Hannah and Jessica Mellor Davis continue to improve every week in their first season with the Belles, providing good support from the bench.
The girls had a belwildering number of corners in the second half, but it looked like it wouldn't be their day until Ola Mleczek pounced on a loose ball in the box to shoot high in the net to give the girls a derserved point.
Malet Lambert u10's 1 Brayton Belles u10's 5
Brayton didn't get off to a good start as malet Lambert went one up. brayton fought hard to get one back. Good fortunes were on brayton's side as a goal line scramble poked in by Gabriella Carroll made the score even. brayton had chance after chance to take the lead but superb goalkeeping from malet's goalkeeper kept the score level. finally brayton went two one up with another goal from gabby to make it two one at half time. the second half mirrored the first as brayton again had chance after chance to put their goal tally up. brayton's third came from a good corner taken by rachel Newman and poked in by rachel keil Isaac. malet had there chances to come back into this game but brilliant defending by Lucy Robinson,Emily barker and goalkeeper Lucy Haskell kept malet at bay. a further two goals from gabby sealed another win for brayton. player of the went to Emily barker who played extremely well at the back but was brought off due to a slight injury. the player who replaced her was Katie Marshall who also played well at the back. all in all brayton deserved the victory.

Fantastic green beginning for debutant Yorkie
Brayton Belles U12 green team travelled to Hornsea on Halloween with an unbeaten record. Contending for top spot they quickly got stuck into the Hornsea defence, but were denied several goal scoring opportunities early on in the game by the capable Hornsea keeper.
But it was debutant greens winger Shannon Yorke that showed her green team mates the road to victory by scoring a great goal in the 17th minute and Rosie Hutton quickly followed this in the 22nd minute to give the Belles their second. Competitive sweeper Gemma Robinson was not going to allow her team mates to lead the way in terms of goals and in the 24th minute netted the Belles third.
The second half was very much the same with the Belles playing excellently as a team and keeping possession of the ball. Giorgia Bromley, Aine Abbott, Ellie Comerford and Emily Morton played excellently linking up in midfield and attack, to ensure that Hornsea's keeper was kept busy having to make several saves on each attack.
Despite the saves of the Hornsea keeper, Yorke made sure that she proved her place in the green team with another great goal in the 56th minute and Mortons tireless efforts were rewarded in the 58th minute when a shot on goal took a deflection off a Hornsea defender and found the back of the net.
Any chances that the Hornsea team had were denied by some great defensive work from the whole of the team but skipper Chelsea Head-Ellis, Jenny Clay and Sarah Huggins strongly contributed to keeping another clean sheet for this talented and versatile Belles side.
Congratulations was given to the whole of the team for their excellent team play and players of the match were awarded to Emily Morton for her relentless effort and team work, also Shannon Yorke for her courageous debut and clever runs on and off the ball.
Regards
Pinefleet U14 4- 3 Brayton Belles U14.
Scorers : Anya Limbert 2, Kelly Thornton.
Starting slowly and perhaps showing their opponents, who have a 100% record in the league, too much respect cost the Belles dearly when they found themselves 3-0 down inside the first 10 minutes.
They then showed some good fighting spirit to claw their way back into the game and created a couple of good chances before the half-time whistle.
The second half was only minutes old when Kelly Thornton jinked her way past a couple of defenders on the left hand side and fired an unstoppable shot into the top corner to make it 3-1 and give the Belles hope. They were now starting to get on top and it was no surprise when Anya Limbert scored with a left foot shot from close range to make it 3-2. Football can be a cruel game however and following a breakaway, and despite a fine save from keeper Melissa Till, Pinefleet scored from the rebound to make it 4-2.
Undeterred the Belles responded and Anya Limbert scored again, with 4 minutes remaining, with a fine shot from the edge of the area which went in off the underside of the bar to make it 4-3.
There was to be no fairy tale however, and despite all their efforts, including an outstanding performance in midfield from captain Amy Wilson, they could not find an equaliser.

Brayton Belles Open Age 3 7 Kirklees
Brayton Belles went into the weekends fixture with an increasingly long absentee list due to injuries and other commitments. Brayton however came flying out of the blocks and were one up inside 30 seconds when Emma Knowles flicked the ball out wide for Jess Dunn to finish neatly into the bottom corner. Brayton would double the lead in the first half when Emma Knowles turned 30 yards out and rifled the ball home. Braytons lead didnt last long after the re-start. They conceded early on but would once again go two goals clear when Knowles once again finished well. Nikki Copeland left the field to join the ever increasing injury list and due to the re-shuffle Brayton never regained the upper hand. Poor defending as a team led them conceding six late goals but in essence the last few were a compliment to the visiting side. Player of the match went Carly Bowles due other all round link up play, but this is a game Brayton will want to forget quickly.
Brayton Belles U12 Greens 4 - 0 Goole Town Girls U12A
Both sides settled into the game in the first five minutes, testing each other, but it was The Belles skipper Chelsea Head-Ellis who opened up scoring in the 7th minute when she scored from 25 yards out. The rest of the half was closely fought with both sides creating chances.
The Belles started the second half the better team but finding it difficult in the final third to cope with the physical Goole defenders. However Jenny Clay made a difference with her physical presence and it was no surprise to see in the 41st minute Clay scoring the Belles 2nd.
Goole came back strongly, but determined to keep a clean sheet The Belles 2nd half keeper Emily Morton made a great save. There was also great contributions from Sarah Huggins, Rosie Hutton, Aine Abbott, Gemma Robinson, Giorgia Bromley and Ellie Comerford.
It was the Belles however, who seemed hungrier for the win and fought hard to pile on the pressure on Goole, resulting in a further two goals from Ellie Comerford and a second of the game for Head-Ellis. The player of the match was awarded to skipper Head-Ellis for her fantastic performance.
Belles U14 - 9 a-side York League.
Heworth U14 4 - 1 Brayton Belles U14
Keen to build on their recent improved performances The Belles started brightly and for much of the first half looked the better team. Football can be a cruel game however and against the run of play Heworth scored to make the half-time score 1-0.
It was a similar story in the second half with the Belles pressing forward but another couple of defensive scrambles and deflections led to them conceding a further two scrappy goals before Heworth got a fourth with a well worked move.
Undeterred the Belles got some consolation when Jodie Cliff latched onto a through ball, held off the defender and slotted the ball past the keeper to make the final score 4-1.
The whole team tried hard with Abbi Gaskell, Zoe Ribchester, Florence Brown and Jodie Cliff doing particularly well.
Brayton U14 7 - 0 North Ferriby U14.
The Belles clinched the game with two impressive 10 minute spells in each half.
They started in positive manner, playing some good passing football and after only 6 minutes Cairo Newby was on hand at the far post to beat the keeper with a low shot. Only minutes later Anya Limbert scored with a good cross shot, and then almost straight from the kick-off Evie Smyth followed up a save by the keeper to score and make it 3-0 after only 10 minutes.
From this point to 15 minutes into the second half of the game it just did not happen for The Belles although some credit must go to their opponents for their battling efforts.
The Belles suddenly then started playing football again and after Evie Smyth had scored her second with good shot between the keeper and the near post, Kelly Thornton never gave up on a through ball and finished well to make it 5-0. Anya Limbert to get her second with a shot over the keeper into the roof of the net, before Ciara McEvoy completed the scoring when she pounced following a corner to fire home.
Scarborough Ladies U16s 6 -3 Brayton Belles U16s
A game of 2 halfs as the saying goes, In the first half Brayton never got to grips with the wind or the determination of Scarborough. Despite a gallant display in goal by Jess Bisby The Belles found themselves 3 - 0 down at half time.
The 2nd half was a different story with Kate Merry wearing magic boots ( Jimmy Grimble style) bagging a goal after only 5 minutes, the game opened up as Brayton pushed forward. Parkin, Birch, Lund and player of the week Charlotte Ward got to grips in midfield and created the opening which led to those magic boots getting a 2nd goal. The game went from end to end with Scarborough also bagging a couple of goals, despite a 3rd goal for Brayton from Poppy Brennan, Scarborough could not be caught. The only prize for the 2nd visit to the East Coast in 2 weeks was fish and chips at the front.
Hebdon Royd 0 11 Brayton Belles Open Age
Brayton were back in league action this week when they found themselves making the long journey to Hebdon Royd. Brayton started the brightest and applied all the early pressure without really testing the home keeper. The deadlock was broken by Emma Knowles managed to slide the ball home despite colliding with the post. Knowles would double her tally soon after with a lovely angled drive across the goal. Jess Dunn would get in on the act when she scored at the far post. Brayton however, were not finished as Knowles went on to score two more before half time.
The second half would see Brayton come out in the same mood as Jenna Rogers scored a second half hat trick for the second game running. Jess Dunn also completed her hat trick in the second half to take the score to 10-0. Emma Knowles would complete the rout to take her personal tally to five. The defence of Stephenson, Horsfield, Copleland, Harrison and Lent kept their third clean sheet of the season and there were notable performances by Johnson, Thompson, Wood and Calvert. Player of the match went to Meganne Summers for her tireless effort and link up play.

Hebdon Royd 0 Brayton Belles 11
Brayton were back in league action this week when they found themselves making the long journey to Hebdon Royd. Brayton started the brightest and found them applying all the early pressure without really testing the home keeper. The deadlock was broken by Emma Knowles when she collided with the post to slide the ball home. Knowles would double her tally soon after with a lovely angled drive across the goal. Jess Dunn would get in on the act when she slid the ball in at the far post, Brayton however were not finished hear as Knowles went on to score two more before half time. This took Brayton in at half time 5 goals to the good. The second half would see Brayton come out in the same mood as Jenna Rogers would get in on the act scoring a second half hat trick for the second game running. Malet lambert U14 4 - 3 Brayton Belles U14
A sensational hat trick by the inform cairo newby couldn't prevent Belles from coming away without even a point from malet lambert. as the score line suggests the match was nip & tuck throughout and an excellent advert for girls football. the home side opened up the scoring within 10 minutes with a neat finish, which gave Belles keeper, katie parker, no chance. However Brayton bounced back, five minutes later when cairo newby lobbed the advancing malet keeper from 15 yards. the home side then unfortunately struck twice to put daylight between the opposing sides. but newby had other ideas as she screamed down the left side and put away her second to keep Belles in the match once again, unfortunately Belles were caught napping and payed the price as the home side opened up a 2 goal side lead. newby then completed her hat trick with a close range effort which again left the malet keeper grasping at thin air. as the match entered the closing stages the game continued to ebb and flow, but with 10 minutes left it was malet who dealt the sucker punch which finally put the game beyond Belles reach. brayton on the whole were more then a match for malet and will learn from the game and show that they can be more then a handful against the top teams in this league.
Brayton U12A v Pinefleet B (cup) 8 - 1
Brayton Belles U12 Green team got off to a nervous start in the East Riding League cup, despite being unbeaten this season. As Pinefleet Wolfreton were a lively side and took the lead on the 08th minute.
Momentarily lapses of concentration saw the Belles being disorganised and playing out of their positions, which lead to advances on the Belles half in the first 15 minutes.
However the Belles started to gain confidence and were in the Pinefleet half for the rest of the first half with opportunities missed or saved, until Gemma Robinson struck home a great goal on the 25th minute to keep Belles cup hopes alive.
Going into the second half the Belles started to settle down passing the ball well and taking their chances when it mattered. With renewed vigour and determination Giorgia Bromley struck a thunderous shot passed the Pinefleet keeper on the 35th minute and this then lead to a flurry of goals being scored by the Belles. Aine Abbott scored two, Sarah Huggins one, Rosie Hutton two and a further goal by Robinson.
The Belles displayed great courage and character with some great runs on the wing, support play across the team and superb defending from Chelsea-Head Ellis, Jenny Clay and goalie support from Emily Morton, resulting in the score at the final whistle being Brayton Belles 8-1 Pinefleet Wolfreton B. Players of the match went to Robbo and Hutton for their perseverance and resilience in attack. Many thanks to Jess Dunn for officiating the game.
Ripon City U14 1 v 0 Brayton Belles U14.
The Belles were desperately unlucky not to get at least a point from their trip to Ripon, after Jodie Cliff hit the post no more than 30 seconds into the game.
The only goal of the game came after 20 minutes of the first half when a Ripon corner on the left led to a goalmouth scramble and the ball somehow just trickled over the line in almost slow motion.
In the second half the Belles were more positive and created some good chances but unfortunately were unable to convert any into goals. At the other end the Belles defence of Rachael Grundy, Kelly Walker and Abbigayle Gaskell held firm and played particularly well.
The Belles have improved as a team in each game this season and it hopefully will not be long before they get rewarded for their play.
Pinefleet wolferton 4 brayton belles 4 (after extra time and penalties Pinefleet 5 brayton 6)
A game of Ping Pong
first round of the cup got off to a flyer. Gabriella Carroll scored within the first couple of minutes of the first half. But pinefleet came storming back to level the score. a few minutes later pinefleet scored again. but brayton bounced back with another goal from gabby. but the home side went in front once more with the score now at 3-2. Pinefleets lead didn't last long as rachel newman went on to score two more goals to give brayton the lead. finally the whistle went for half time.
The second half was a lot different to the first half. Both teams battled hard throughout the second half, but a good finish from the home sides striker levelled the the score once again. full time whistle went and belles were dreading extra time and even the prospect of penalties. with Emily barker, Lucy Robinson and Hannah collier in defence and in midfield Katie marshal and rachel with gabby as the loan striker belles played defensively. throughout extra time belles defended brilliantly with Emily who was a brick wall at the back nobody could get passed her but when they did goalkeeper Lucy Haskell was there to save it. but brayton did have some chances with gabby steaming down the wing and rachel helping her. but extra time had run out and belles worst nightmare had come true. PENALTIES. Pinefleet took the first penalty and put it wide. belles first penalty was taken by Gabby who calmly slotted it past the keeper and brayton were 1-0 up. Pinefleet scored their second penalty to make it 1-1. belles second penalty was taken by rachel who blasted it into the back of the net and belles were in front again.pinefleet's final penalty. the tension mounted everyone including parents were biting their nails and willing Lucy to save the penalty. " WHAT A SAVE!" by Lucy a fabulous save that won the the match every player from brayton ran to congratulate Lucy.
Everyone played their socks off in a close, exciting and nail biting game. Player(s) of the week went to every brayton player for their hard work and great team spirit. WELL DONE GIRLS.
BELLES U16 v FLAMBOROUGH 2 - 2 aet
This cup match was by far the most exciting match this season.
End to end play throughout the first half tested both defences. It was the Belles who eventually took the lead. Jess Bisby played a well weighted pass through to Katie Merry, Merry slid the ball into the path of Lucy Parkin who blasted the ball past the on coming keeper. Ten minutes later Flamborough equalised to make it all level at half time.
Brayton took full control in the second half producing some great individual performances. Jodie Lund, Megan Birch and keeper Poppy Brennan were outstanding. However they could not break through the strong Flamborough defence taking the tie in to extra time.
The first period of extra time ended honours even despite Brayton testing the keeper on several occasions. The second period of extra time once again saw the Belles push forward with Hannah Priddy and Charlotte Ward pressing down the wings. In the final minute of the match Jess Bisby broke free and smashed a shot from thirty yards into the back of the Flamborough net which sent the Brayton supporters wild with delight. But the game was not over just yet. Brayton conceded a corner and with only seconds remaining Flamborough scrambled an equaliser with the last kick of the match, taking the match into a penalty shootout.
Brayton's first two penalties went wide and a great save from a Bisby penalty meant that Ashley Rowe had to score her penalty to keep the Belles in it. Totally focussed Ashley calmly walked up to the penalty spot and after a deep breath sent a bullet of a shot into the top corner. However despite the heroics of keeper Brennan it wasn't to be and the Belles bowed out of the League cup 1 - 3 on penalties. A great cup tie, which kept the crowd enthralled throughout.
Scotton Scorchers 2 Brayton Belles 2
Captain Ola Mleczek got the Belles underway with the first goal of the half, a fine free kick, wrong footing Scotton's keeper.
Strong defensive play from Evie Linton and Emily Hindle kept the score this way until just before half time when Scotton equalised.
In a very tight second half there was some excellent wing play from player of the week Emily Owen and the midfield dynamos of Ruby Oats and Emily Bolton but Scotton took some breaking down.
A fine kick out from keeper Nia Major, getting the ball up for Ola to slot home the Belles second. A win looked likely until Scotton equalised in the last minute for what was probably a deserved draw.
10th OCTOBER 2009
Leeds Medics & Dentists 0 Brayton Belles 6
Brayton Belles found themselves drawn away at Leeds Medics & Dentists in the first round of league cup. Brayton flew out of the blocks and were one up in the early parts of the game when Meganne Summers crossed for Jenna Rodgers to turn neatly in the box to fire low past the keeper. Brayton were applying a lot of pressure and would soon go two up when an Emma Knowles corner was turned into the Leeds goal. Brayton went in at half time 2 up, The call at a half time was to keep up the hard work and finish the job which Brayton did early in the second half. Jenna Rodgers scored two identical goals by rising on the back post to power home two Emma Knowles corners, Brayton were now four up. However this was not good enough for the Belles and they scored once again when Emma Knowles broke into the box and fired by the advancing keeper. Lotti Jonson would complete the rout on her debut in the dying minutes of the game when she converted another Emma Knowles cross. The defence of Stephenson, Horsfield, Harrison, Copeland and Rodgers must commended for keeping yet another clean sheet and Lent, Thompson, Pidge and Liddle all worked hard in a strong team performance.
Brayton Belles U10 3-1 Goole Town Girls U10
The Belles just couldnt get out of first gear at first and with Goole more than up for the task, they took the game to The Belles keeping defenders Barker, Bromley and Keeper Haskell busy. It wasnt long before Goole scored a well deserved goal for Goole which was the wakeup call the Belles needed. The Belles midfield of Newman, Collier and Carroll gradually started to up the pressure and with the tireless running up front of Hardcastle, it wasnt long before Rachel Newman netted for the home side. With renewed confidence, Gabriella Carroll and Elisha Hardcastle chased down and pressured Goole into putting the ball into the back of the net from the kick off. With Keil-Isaac in the sweeper role and defender and player of the week Lucy Robinson confidently controlling the back and midfield for the Belles attacks. Haskell was providing some huge kicks for the attackers to apply further pressure and a perfect set play from a free kick from the side of the Gooles keepers box saw Newman set up Keil-Isaac to strike home to give the Belles all the points.
Brayton Belles U12 Blue 3 - 2 Pinefleet Wolfreton U12
U12 Blue team hosted Pinefleet Wolfreton for their 5th league game. The teams were very evenly matched and it was Brayton that opened the scoring with Shannon Yorke breaking through and firing past the excellent Pinefleet keeper. With Nicole Husband , Ella Wilkinson working hard in defence and Faith O'Donnell-Stokes in goal Pinefleet were unable to score in the first half. Carlie Hanson volleyed a superb ball to captain Kaitlyn Doncaster who struck the ball into the top corner for The Belles. The whole team worked really hard and there was some lovely passing from both wingers Emily Murphy and Charlotte Cliffe but Pinefleet managed to pull back a goal with 10 mins to go. Doncaster scored her 2nd goal for the Belles with 5 minutes left Pinefleet managed to score again making the final minutes nail biting. Player of the match was awared to Nicole Husband who was outstanding in defence - with thanks to referee Frank Holleran.
Driffield U12 0 - 5 Brayton Belles U12 Green
Brayton Belles U12 Greens carried on their winning streak with a great result against Driffield. Left winger Aine Abbott made a run down the wing and slotted in a great goal in the 7th minute. With the Belles passing impressively, striker Rosie Hutton scored a second. The Belles carried on piling pressure on the Driffield defence and striker Chelsea Head-Ellis and sweeper Ellie Comerford had near misses. Quick runs on the right wing and fancy footwork by winger Emily Morton led to a further goal being scored by her in the 28th minute and Abbott netted her second of the game from a tight angle just before the half time whistle. Any chances that Driffield had to score in the first half were denied by defenders Sarah Huggins and Giorgia Bromley, with great goalie support from Jenny Clay.
In the second half, Huggins usually stalwart defender, scored a goal in the 50th minute. The Belles continued to hold their nerve to keep a well deserved clean sheet to end the game Driffied 0-5 Brayton Belles.
The Belles player of the match went to Huggins for her great defensive skills and contribution in attack.
Brayton Belles U14 1 - 2 Poppleton U14
A beautiful morning at Brayton saw both teams play out an enthralling game.
In a classic game of two halves, the first saw The Belles creating the more chances, including one straight from the kick-off which hit a post, but was cleared off the line. However they were only able to convert one of them, when Emily Thomson smartly lobbed the keeper following a corner on the right to give the Belles a 1-0 half time lead.
The second half saw Poppletons turn to create the better chances, the first of which led to their equaliser, when a break down the left saw the ball chipped past the advancing keeper Katie Parker into the net.
There were only 4 minutes left when Poppleton scored an almost carbon copy of their first goal to take the lead, but despite pressing to the end the Belles were unable to score again.
3rd OCTOBER 2009
Brayton Belles 2 2 Elland Ladies
Brayton Belles entertained Elland ladies at Hambleton sports field for what was the first home game of the season. Elland a well established premier league side were the better starters and opened the scoring in the first five minutes of the game when a neat move was finished with a tap in. Brayton were soon back level field when Emma Knowles turned neatly to fire a shot into the top corner from thirty yards. The remainder of the first half was even with a back three of Wood, Copeland and the returning Harrison along with another assured performance from Stephenson keeping Elland at bay. In the second half Brayton began brightly with Bowles once again linking with J. Rogers and Knowles with the later finishing neatly to make to make the score 2 1. Hard work from Summers, Thompson and Ackroyd in this period made it look like Brayton would close out for a hard fought win. This however would not happen as Elland equalised from a long free kick. Horsefield, Liddle and L. Rogers Came off the bench to make very good cameo performances and on the basis of this game Brayton will be looking to push onto the next level. Player of the match was Nikki Copeland and everyone within the Brayton Belles squad would like to send their best wishes to Matthew Tat` Birch who broke his leg in the Cliffe reserves game on Sunday.
Brayton Belles ERGFL U10 0 - 4 Pinefleet Wolfreton U10
A game of two halves as they say with both teams battling and taking advantage of the windy conditions. It was through captain Rachel Newman's decision to start with the wind behind The Belles that meant shots a plenty from the strikers Newman and Hardcastle. Pinefleets goalkeeper stood firm as The Belles midfielders Carroll and Collier took their turn but to no avail. Just before half time against the run of play Pinefleet broke and their striker gave Belles goalkeeper Haskell no chance with a fine finish.
Pinefleet now with the wind behind their backs gave the defenders Bromley, Robinson and player of the week with her last gasp challenges Emily Barker some tough times. As the Belles strikers and midfielders pressed forward to gain an equaliser gaps started to appear for Pinefleets midfield and same striker to punish three more times. It could have been a worse situation but keeper Haskell produced some superb one on one point blank saves. Robinson pushed further forward as the game neared the end to give Midfielder Katie Marshall chances with a goal bound shot being well saved. The Belles had their chances, but we all know, sometimes its a funny old windy game.
Poppleton Tigers U11s 2 - 1 Brayton Belles U11's
In poor conditions both teams served up a feast of football, in a game that swung end to end all the players deserve credit for the quality of the game.
In the first half there were plenty of chances but the score sheet remained scoreless with Nia Major in goal and centre halves Emily Hindle and Evie Linton deserving of praise for Brayton with the quality of their defending.
The Belles took the lead early in the second half with a cool finish from player of the week Rebecca Risebrow. Emily Owen and Emily Bolton performed well on the wings with Ruby Oates working hard in the centre of midfield.
Poppleton equalised with a fine shot from the edge of the area and took the lead soon afterwards, but Brayton didn't give up, and with Risebrow playing well in attack, they came close on a number of occasions. Hannah and Jessica Mellor Davis played well when coming on from the bench, but try as they might the team couldn't get the second goal their play deserved.
North Ferriby U12 4 - 1 Brayton Belles Blue
Brayton Belles U12 Blue came up against a well organised North Ferriby team. Braytons stand in keeper Kelly Home was tested frequently in the first half and with North Ferriby taking advantage of the windy conditions they scored 2 before half time. Brayton started the second half stronger but it was North Ferriby that managed to score again - Shannon Yorke player of the match managed to pull one back for The Belles.
Brayton Belles U14s 5 3 Hessle Town
The undefeated Belles started, with the benefit of the strong wind, and went ahead after 7 minutes when Kelly Thornton fired in a 25 yard shot. It was 2-0 at half time when Cairo Newby, scored from the rebound, after her first shot was well saved by the keeper.
The second half could not have started worse for the Belles when Hessle scored within minutes from close range. It was then that The Belles responded and started to play some good passing football into the wind, and after Cairo Newby had scored her second with a fine left foot shot, she completed her hat-trick when she followed up to score after the keeper had saved a shot from Jodie Cliff. A fifth goal for the Belles came when Katie Todd ran 40 yards in one of her trademark runs down the right wing and beat the keeper at the near post.
With time running out it was then that Hessle took advantage of the wind to score with two long range unstoppable shots to make the final score 5-3.
The match was a credit to the girls from both teams who tried gamely to play football in terrible conditions.
Brayton Belles U16s 1 9 Malet lambert U16s
The Belles U16 team came crashing down to earth after their success over the last few week.
Up against a very strong and skilful Malet Lambert team and with some key players either injured or ill, Brayton held their own for the first ten minutes with some good defensive work and fine saves from keeper Poppy Brennan. Malet then ripped the Belles apart with some clinical passing and great movement to quickly go 4 - 0 up. Brayton Belles u11's 5-2 Tockwith
The Belles kept up their great start to the season with another fine win.
The girls took the game to Tockwith from the kick off and two early goals from Ola Mleczek, who was returning from injury, put the opposition on the back foot. With Evie Linton and Emily Hindle developing a good understanding at the back, the Belles continued to control the game. Rebecca Risebrow and Emily Bolton provided good support from the wings with Emily Owen playing well in the middle of the field, only bad luck kept the Belles score down at this stage.
The Belles started the second half as they did the first with Ola completing her hat trick and a shot from Rebecca unluckily turned in to their own net by a Tockwith defender.
At this point Tockwith came back in to the game and pulled a goal back, Nia Major then pulled off a number of fine saves in goal to win player of the week.
Brayton with stood the pressure from Tockwith and scored a fifth through Rebecca after a good passing move with Ola. Subs, Hannah and Jessica Mellor Davis provided good support from the bench for the tiring girls. Tockwith scored late on but the Belles saw out the game for another good win.
Brayton Belles U12 Blue 0 Malet Lambert 2
Brayton Belles U12 Blue Team hosted Malet Lambert for their 3rd game of the season. Despite the Belles being a player down, they showed great character, determination and team work during the full 60 mins played. Captain Shannon Yorke, Francesca Bettison and Carlie Hanson all had fine shots on goal denied with some strong saves being pulled off by the young talented Malet Lambert Keeper. Malet Lambert took advantage of having extra players by passing well and in the first half scored twice. However the Belles battled really well in the second half, with Nicole Husband defending the Belles half sometimes single handedly to give debutant Kelly Holme snd the rest of the attacking Belles plenty of opportunities to advance. The Malet Lambert keeper kept them at bay though and the final score was Belles Blue 0 2 Malet Lambert. Player of the match was awarded to Faith ODonnell-Stokes for her fantastic goal keeping.
Brayton Belles U12 Green 9 Tickton Blues 2
Brayton Belles U12 Green team had a fabulous start to their 3rd game of the season against Tickton Blues with Gemma Robinson opening up the scoring within 30 seconds. The Belles team passed the ball well between them and it wasnt long before they extended their lead to 3. However the Belles had momentarily lapses of concentration and Tickton started to fight back, with two quick goals scored in succession. The Belles defiantly rose to the occasion and scored a further two goals just before half time. The Belles carried on working hard in the second half, with some excellent runs on the wings from Emily Morton and Aine Abbott, plus the great support play from defence and midfield, which lead to the Belles increasing their lead to 9. The Belles scorers were Morton 2, Abbot 2, Ellie Comerford 2, Gemma Robinson 1, Jenny Clay 1 and Rosie Hutton 1. Player of the match was awarded to Giorgia Bromley for her hard work and effort in each the playing positions she went in and Aine Abbott for her skilfull footwork, runs on the wing and great teamwork.
Beverley White Star 0 - 4 Brayton Belles U 10 ERGFL
Its great to see a team nicely coming together and with the defenders Robinson, Bromley and Barker in front of Birthday Girl and goalkeeper Lucy Haskell, they were never going to make it easy for the Beverley first half attacks. The midfielders of Marshall and Collier, both with fancy footwork gave chances for the ever chasing Hardcastle and Carroll to break through the Beverley defence and gradually started to control the middle ground. With the introduction of player of the week Rachel Newman and her confidence in shooting gave problems to the capable Beverley goalkeeper.
The second half pressure paid dividends and Elisha Hardcastle converted the Belles first goal. Then it was from one of Newman`s forward runs with a neat strike to put the Belles two up. Beverley came back to pressure and both teams provided some high standard corners and defending but nothing was going to deter Haskell from a birthday clean sheet. But it was the Belles who continued to push forward and with Gabriella Carroll`s strength as the game went on powered in a fine angled shot. Newman sealed the deal with a first time strike from a Carroll cross to give Brayton their first win and points of the season.
BELLES U16 v HESSLE TOWN 4 - 1
Brayton went second in the league after beating last seasons champions 4 - 1
During the first ten minutes Hessle Town put the Belles under severe pressure. Keeper Jess Thompson made several great saves and the Belles defence stood firm stopping Hessle in their tracks. Jade Roche opened the scoring flicking the ball into the net from a fine Jodie Lund corner. Jodie then added another before half time, running onto a good passing move from Merry, Brennan and Priddy.
Brayton extended their lead in the second half when Bisby weaved past the Hessle defence to make it 3 - 0. Hessle responded straight away with the best goal of the game. However Jodie Lund finished the opposition off with her second goal after another quick passing move between Ward, Birch and Brown. Another very good performance from the improving under sixteen team.
Player of the match went to Jess Thompson
Hedon Rangers U14 0 - 7 Brayton Belles U14
On a beautiful autumn morning the Belles started slowly and, although they went a goal up after 5 minutes when Evie Smyth received a pass from Kelly Thornton and broke down the left to beat the keeper at the near post, much of the first 20 minutes was spent simply getting into their stride
It was then that the girls started supporting each other and playing some good football.
First good control from Katie Todd led to Kelly playing in Anya Limbert who hooked the ball home to make it 2-0, and then minutes later Amy Wilson fed Cairo Newby who went round the keeper and walked the ball into the net. Just before half time Cairo scored her second after a long throw from Amy to make it 4-0.
It was much the same story in the second half, with the Belles pressing forward and restricting the home team to breakaways. After ten minutes of the half a good interchange between Anya and Ciara McEvoy led to Ciara making it 5-0 from close range.
Two minutes later and Kelly Thornton reacted the quickest to a bouncing ball in the area and made it 6-0, before Cairo completed both the scoring and her hat-trick when she scored at the far post following a corner on the right.
The pick of the home team was their keeper who kept the score down with some excellent handling and saves.
Overall this was another very good team performance and the girls can be proud of their efforts in looking for space and supporting each other all over the field.

Silsden ladies 0
Brayton Belles 3
Brayton Belles found themselves away again this time at Silsden ladies. A large pitch lead Brayton to believe that they could play their attacking football and this was the story from the start. From the off Brayton played a high tempo game and tested the Silsden back four with many searching crosses, and this was how the first goal came about. A long cross field ball by Shanice Lent was met by Jess Dunn on the back post and poked into the back of the net. After going one up Jenna Rogers and Emma Knowles both found The Silsden Keeper in good form as she kept both at bay with a string of good saves. Brayton however would go in at half time two up as a an Emma Knowles corner was cleared out of the box by the Silsden defence, only to be met on the full volley by Meganne Summers as she guided the ball into the top corner. In the second half Brayton found themselves under more pressure with the Brayton defence of Horsfield, Copeland, Wood and Lent restricting Silsden to long range efforts. Any time Silsden broke through the defence Laura Stephenson was on top form making a string of quality saves. Brayton extended their lead late in the second half when Jess Dunn played Jenna Rogers to finish neatly in the bottom corner. Liddle, Thompson, Calvert and Pidge all had excellent games as this win really was a team performance
BELLES U11 v CAYTON 4 - 1
An under strength u11 side suffering from injuries and illness put in a fine battling performance to take all the points from the first game of the season at Cayton. Special mention should go to Emily Bolton, player of the week, who bravely stepped up to play her first game in goal.
The first half was mainly played in the Cayton half with captain Ruby Oates driving the team forward from midfield but the Belles contrived to miss chance after chance and indeed it took a fine save from Emily Bolton late in the first half to keep the scores level at the interval.
The Belles found their shooting boots in the second half and a quick fire hatrick from Rebecca Risebrow took the game away from Cayton.
Evie Linton and Emily Hindle provided a strong base at the back and did well to limit the chances the Cayton forwards had during the game.
Sisters Hannah and Jessica Mellor Davis playing their first game for the Belles had confident games on the two wings working tirelessly for the team.
Ruby Oates popped up with a great finish late in the game for a goal her all round performance deserved. Even a late goal from Cayton couldn't take the gloss off a fine team display.
BELLES U16s GET BACK ON TRACK
BRAYTON BELLES U16 v HESSLE SPORTING 8 - 2
After last weeks 6 - 1 defeat Brayton showed their great team character battering Sporting 8 - 2.
The Belles got off to a great start when Jodie Lund shook the Hessle cross bar with a thunderous shot. Captain Megan Birch was on hand to slot the ball home. Brayton continued to press and super striker Lucy Parkin smashed home five more before half time, the best coming from the move of the match with some neat passing from Ibbetson, Merry and a brilliantly weighted through ball from Lund into the path of Parkin who hammered the ball past the oncoming keeper.
Hessle Sporting came out fighting in the second half testing the Belles defence. Eve Dawson lead by example stopping Hessle in their tracks. Parkin calmed the Belles, by catching Sporting on the break and scoring her sixth of the match. Keeper Jess Thompson couldn't stop Hessle scoring a couple of consolation goals but did pull of a great save from a penalty shot.
Birch finished the match off in style getting on the end of a well taken corner to give the Belles a 8 - 2 victory.
Player of the match went to an inspired Lucy Parkin for her double hat trick.
U12B v Flamborough 10 - 0
U12 Blue team were away to Flamborough Falcons for their second game of the season. The Belles dominated the game from the start with Kaitlyn Doncaster opening the scoring after 5 mins and Shannon Yorke swiftly following. Both Yorke and Doncaster netted another 2 a piece making the half time score 0 - 6. 2nd half confidence was high Emily Murphy and Francesca Bettison played well on the wings, with some fantastic defensive work from Nicole Husband and Ella Wilkinson and Faith ODonnell Stokes in goal Flamborough struggled to break through. Yorke soon netted her fourth goal and Doncaster getting on the end of a couple of superb crosses increased her total to 5. Carlie Hanson made the final score 0 - 10.
The player of the game was awarded to the whole team for a fantastic effort - well done everyone.
U12A v AFC Tickton A 0 - 0
Brayton Belles U12 Green team put on an outstanding performance in an exciting nail biting game versus an unbeaten Tickton Clarets side. The Belles applied pressure from the kick off and performed fantastically well as a team again. Tickton defended well making it diffcult for the Belles to create goal scoring opportunities and the Belles were unfortunate to not finish the few chances they had. The Belles showed great skill and bossed Tickton around for much of the 2nd half. Even when Tickton had a chance to go in the lead from a penalty, defiant Belles keeper Emily Morton made a brilliant save to keep the Belles level. Jenny Clay Belles defender piled on the pressure by making some superb runs on the wing to nearly break the deadlock, whilst Giorgia Bromley covered her in defence. But despite this courageous effort the result ended o - o, player of the match was awarded to Jenny Clay for her superb goal keeping, clever runs with the ball and great defending.
Cayton U14 5 v 1 Brayton Belles U14
Brayton awoke to the realities of their first ever 9 a-side league fixture, when their hesitant start led to them conceding a goal after only 4 minutes when a cross from the right was hit home by one the speedy Cayton forwards.
The first half continued to be one of missed tackles and not closing down their opponents, as one of Cayton's other forwards hit an excellent hat-trick, giving keeper Autumn Freeman no chance with any of the goals, to leave the half time score 4-0.
The Belles re-grouped and started the second half a lot more confidently and were unlucky to concede a 5th goal following a goalmouth scramble. Undeterred Brayton continued to play and raised their game to match their opponents for the remainder of the half and created some good chances, one of which was slotted home by Emily Thomson.
The Belles can take a lot of positives from their second half performance into their game next week against Harrogate Railway.

Brayton Belles U14 9 v 1 AFC Tickton U14
Brayton got their season off to a bright start with an excellent performance, in which all the girls contributed and supported each other, in an all round team effort.
On a lovely sunny day at Thorpe, Evie Smyth started the scoring after 7 minutes, when she finished a fine run down the right with a low cross shot into the corner of the net. Anya Limbert got the second when she bundled the ball over the line following a goalmouth scramble, before Evie scored twice more to complete a first half hat-trick. Her second goal came from defence splitting pass from Emma Tune, and her third from a long throw by Amy Wilson, which gave a 4-0 half-time scoreline.
The Belles came out flying in the second half, and soon after Kelly Thornton had centred for Cairo Newby to score at the far post, Anya Limbert got her second when she slotted home the rebound from a shot by Cairo, to make it 6-0.
Following several substitutions and positional changes the good team effort continued, firstly with Sophie Hudson hitting a cross into the roof of the net, and then through Kelly Thornton who scored with a good right foot shot following a run down the right.
Cairo Newby finished the scoring for the Belles with her second goal before the visitors, who kept playing gamely, got a consolation goal just before the end to leave the final score 9-1.
BELLES U16 V HESSLE RANGERS U16 1 - 6
IT'S A BIT OF A SHOCKER
Brayton U16s got their season off to a shocking start. After only thirty minutes the Belles found themselves six nil down.
The under 16s, without a dedicated keeper this season paid a heavy price from several early defensive mistakes. However they finally regrouped and held on to half time.
Changes to the team format and repositioning of players paid off in the second half. Within a minute of the start Brayton put together a well worked passing move involving captain Megan Birch, Hannah Priddy and Poppy Brennan resulting in a great finish from Jodie Lund. The Belles bossed the rest of the match with strong defending from Dawson, Rowe, Roche and Ibbetson and some good moves up front from Parkin and Bisby. unfortunately, all the damage was done in the first thirty minutes.
A valuable lesson learnt by everyone in the first half and many positives from the second half. Player of the match went to Zoe Ibbetson.
Brayton Belles (ERGL) u10's 1 North Ferriby united u10's 7
As the first game of the season got under way, belles were against a strong team. the first goal went to north ferriby but the belles bounced back quickly after a goal kick from ferriby rolled kindly to Gabriella Carroll who slotted the ball in the back of the net to make the score level.
as the match went on both teams battled hard but ferriby took the lead once again. Belles stand in goalkeeper Hannah Collier played really well despite Ferriby scoring five more. Lucy Robinson, Isobel Bromley, Emily barker, Rachel Newman, Katie Marshall and Elisha hardcastle played well together and kept Belles in the game. The first game of the season was always going to be a challenge but overall the belles played with spirit and everyone did their bit. player of the week went to Gabriella Carroll who played her socks off and scored the only goal for Belles.
