Belles v Australia Wanderers

Brayton Belles 5 Australia Wanderers 0

Brayton Belles took on Australia Wanderers at Selby towns ground on Wednesday night in a very entertaining match.
The visitors from down under are on a three week tour of Europe and came to Selby expecting an easy game after beating the Belles last season 5 - 4. However Brayton soon stamped their authority on the match with some fine passing from Jenny Dunn, Megan Birch, Holly Cogan and Tara Newell.
The Belles dominated the first half and were rewarded for their efforts with an opening goal from Emma Knowles. Tara Newell banged in the second to give the Belles a 2 – 0 half time lead.
The second half produced some fantastic passing moves throughout the Brayton team and solid defending from Becky I’anson and Sam Coopey stopped anything the Aussies had to offer.
Laura Sanderson finished a fine move from Gemma Dransfield and Eve Cogan to make the score 3 – 0.
The goal of the match went to Emma Knowles who having received a through ball from Megan Summers weaved magically through the Wanderers defence crashing home a thunderous shot.
Braytons fifth goal came from a skilful lob by Amy Jackson leaving the Australian keeper in floundering in mans land.
Braytons passing game was outstanding throughout the match with Eve ‘The Tiger’ Cogan receiving player of the match.
